CIVIL WEDDING LEGAL REQUIREMENTS
FOR UNITED KINGDOM
1. Bride's and Groom's copy of their passports and you must be older than 18 years old. (If you will have your own witnesses, we require a copy of their passports as well).
2. Birth certificates for both with all the information in print and not handwritten.
3. Non Impediment form for both, not older than 3 months from the date of your wedding.
4. Divorce Certificate or Death Certificate if any. (If the bride and/or groom have been divorced, a divorce decree is needed. The bride may not marry if she has been divorced for less than 10 months.)
5. If you have changed your name, we need the court certificate for that.

7. ALL papers must be translated and authenticated ONLY by a Greek Embassy or Consultant OR via our agency. NO OTHER SOURCE IS ACCEPTABLE.
8. You have to be in Preveza 1 working day after the wedding to register the wedding and the Town Hall will send you the marriage certificate by post.

WE REQUIRE THE ORIGINAL PAPERS IN OUR HANDS, AT LEAST 1 MONTH BEFORE THE WEDDING AND FAXED COPIES BEFORE YOU SEND THEM FOR REVIEW.

LES ACTES DE MARIAGE POUR LA FRANCE

Dans un certain nombre de pays étrangers, il est possible qu'un mariage entre deux ressortissants français soit célébré par l’Ambassadeur ou le Consul de France. Dans ce cas, la seule formalité préalable est la publication des bans.

Vous avez aussi la possibilité de faire célébrer votre union par les autorités locales compétentes ; en fait, c’est la seule solution dans les pays où le mariage consulaire n’est pas possible.
Le mariage célébré à l'étranger selon la loi locale est valable au regard de la législation française, dès lors qu'il ne contrevient pas aux conditions de fond du droit français, et que la publication des bans a été effectuée. Lorsque le mariage est célébré par les autorités locales, le mariage doit également être précédé de la délivrance d’un certificat de capacité à mariage.

Ces formalités préalables au mariage sont du ressort de l’ambassade ou du consulat territorialement compétent qu’il convient de contacter au moins six semaines avant la date prévue du mariage.
Après le mariage, il vous faudra solliciter à nouveau ce poste diplomatique ou consulaire pour la transcription de votre acte de mariage étranger sur les registres de l'état civil consulaire.

En vertu de l’article 170 du Code civil, modifié par la loi 2003-1119 du 26 novembre 2003, l’agent diplomatique ou consulaire a la possibilité de demander à s’entretenir avec les futurs époux ou les époux à l’occasion de chacune des formalités de publication des bans, de délivrance du certificat de capacité à mariage et de transcription de l’acte de mariage.

La transcription des actes de l'état civil dans les registres français

La transcription consiste à reporter dans les registres français les indications contenues dans un acte établi à l'étranger par une autorité étrangère.

Aucun délai n'est fixé pour la transcription d'un acte.

Il est recommandé de demander la transcription dans les registres consulaires français des actes établis devant les autorités locales, pour obtenir :
- Des copies ou des extraits des actes concernant votre état civil figurant dans les registres consulaires français (naissance, mariage, décès...),
- La mise à jour de votre état civil par apposition de mentions marginales,
- Le livret de famille français.
